It is summertime and more people are taking trips to catch some rays. Airline travel increases during this time of year, commonly affecting the passengers. We can discuss this at another time. For today’s topic, we want to address the data breach that impacted a not commonly talked about market: pilots. We bring you an important update regarding a recent data breach that has affected job applicants to become pilots at American Airlines and Southwest Airlines. The breach occurred late April at the recruiting company Pilot Credentials, with American and Southwest Airlines being notified days later.

Dublin Airport data breach image

Here with more airport/airline news! This story is about the data breach at the Dublin Airport. Professional service provider Aon fell victim to a MOVEit Transfer attack, compromising the personal data of approximately 3,000 employees. From online news, Dublin Airport promptly notified local authorities and Ireland's Data Protection Commission.

The MOVEit Transfer platform, used for secure file transfers, was exploited due to a system vulnerability. This SQL injection vulnerability allowed an unauthenticated attacker to gain unauthorized access to the database. Several notable organizations have been targeted by ransomware attacks exploiting the MOVEit Transfer vulnerability, including several international-based organizations.
