Everyone has heard of ChatGPT and as of 2023, ChatGPT is remarkably a popular chatbot platform. With millions of users and the increase in artificial intelligence, chatbot use has increased as well. Early 2023, ChatGPT experienced a data leak, reminding us of the security concerns that chatbots and other AI-backed services bring. It is essential to stay informed about such events and understand the potential impact they may have on user privacy and data security. 

According to reports, the data breach was due to a bug in an open-source library. The breach occurred after an unauthorized individual gained access to a support agent's account. As a result, certain users were able to view titles from other users' chat histories. Moreover, the first message of newly created conversations was inadvertently visible to others if both users were active simultaneously.

Healthcare companies have an obligation to uphold their customers’ integrity by always protecting their privacy and data security. As expected, healthcare companies are one of the larger corporation types to experience cyber-attacks, affecting millions of customers. Shields Health Care Group is a Massachusetts-based medical services provider and they fell victim to a cybercriminal who gained unauthorized access to their systems. As a result of this attack, 2 million customers’ data was compromised. The incident traces back to March 2022, 1 year prior to public knowledge, when Shields first noticed suspicious activity on their internal network. After an extensive investigation, it was revealed that the breach had indeed occurred, exposing the full extent of the damage. 

According to the reports, this stolen information included patients' Social Security numbers, dates of birth, home addresses, healthcare provider information, and healthcare history. Disturbingly, billing information, insurance numbers, and other financial details were also compromised.
