Hey Techies!

Have you heard about the data breach that impacted users of android VPN services ChatVPN, SuperVPN, and GeckVPN? The breach was discovered on May 1, 2022, and upon investigation, it was found that a third party gained unauthorized access to a database that contained user information. The information included usernames, email addresses, and hashed passwords. While no financial information or credit card details were exposed, the parent company stated that they immediately took swift action to this. 

As soon as the parent company discovered the breach, they immediately took steps to contain the situation and launched an investigation. They have since worked tirelessly to strengthen our security measures and prevent any future incidents. 

As a precautionary measure, the parent company recommended that all ChatVPN users change their passwords as soon as possible. They have also stated that they implemented additional security measures, including two-factor authentication, to further protect their users' data. 

Was this precaution set a little too late? Is it naïve to assume that vpn services, of all companies, would have the highest level of protection and therefore would be nearly impossible to breach? They are protective networks, after all. You must always remain mindful that no matter how secure a system may appear to be, you must always safeguard your devices. This includes remaining mindful of the services that you opt-in to further protect your devices. Look out for your best interest.
